Breeding
History & Philosophy
Although Milnes Quarter Horses has a fairly young breeding program
we are very proud of the early results. We have a small group
of well bred mares featuring the foundation bloodlines of NRHA Hall
of Famer Great Pine, Futurity Champion Brennas Kid, producers
like
Hollywood Macho Jac and the very modern breeding of Two Million
Dollar sire Smart Chic Olena. We have bred these mares to some of
the finest
sire power in the performance horse industry including Three
Million Dollar Sire Hollywood Dun It, NRHA Million Dollar Sires Shining
Spark and
Gallo Del Cielo (Rooster), Futurity Champions Brennas Kid and
Chic Please as well as Great Red Pine, Lenas Sugarman and Boogies
Flashy
Jac. In a few
short years our breeding program has produced a Tradition Futurity
Champion, a Congress futurity champion and reserve
champion
and a NERHA Derby winner.
Greatdiamondssparkle, bred and raised by Milnes Quarter Horses,
was sent to Debbie
and Mark Arballo as a two-year-old. Sandra Gordon-Wylie purchased
the mare later that year. She went on to win the 2001 EPRHA
Intermediate Open futurity and the Intermediate Open and Limited
Open divisions of the Tradition Futurity with Debbie riding. She
was an Intermediate Open and Limited Open finalist at the 2002 NRBC
and in 2003 this fancy black mare placed fourth in the USET Futures
Championship with Debbie in the saddle. The next month she won the
NERHA Open and Intermediate Open Derby with Mark riding. Currently
Greatdiamondssparkle has lifetime earnings of $16,183.77.
Great Star Cielo was
the first Milnes owned horse to gain national attention by sliding
to the 2001 Congress Limited Open Futurity reserve
championships with Tommy Milnes in the saddle. The following year
Jerry Coleman rode Brennas Red Pine Jac to win the EPRHA Open Futurity
on the way to the Congress Limited Open Futurity championship. They
also earned the OVRHA Intermediate Open and Limited Open futurity
reserve championship that year.
Brennas Red Pine Jac will stand the 2007 breeding season at the EquinePark at Cornell University. Please check out his page on our site or contact us on line for more information.
