Tommy Milnes

As a teenager, Tommy Milnes was introduced to the sport of reining by neighbor and friend, Don Clark and as interest grew so did his desire to show. Tommy began his show career in 1994 with a little bay mare called The Great Lady and they quickly made their mark in the Youth 14-18 classes. Under the guidance of Dutch Chapman, they finished the year by placing third in the 14-18 top ten standings. Milnes continued showing the mare in 1995 and earned the 14-18 Youth Reserve World Championship.Tommy and Coltrane Melody

Tommy continued to sharpen his showing skills over the years and racked up a number of top ten finishes. In 1996 he placed third in the Youth 14-18 Top Ten aboard Pretty Kilo Kid and finished fourth in the 1997 Limited Non Pro Top Ten. With limited showing in 1998, he finished eighth in the Intermediate Top Ten standings aboard Anuther Lil Calboy.

With many miles under his belt, Tommy looked for a new challenge in aged events. In 1997 he rode Chex N Sugar to the Non Pro futurity finals at the Quarter Horse Congress and he rode Zapata Texas to the 1998 Limited Non Pro and Non Pro finals at the NRHA Futurity.

Milnes decided to make horse training a career in 2000. He spent six months working for Bryant Pace before moving west to work with Ed Fear for the next year and a half. Tommy had a number of opportunities to show and placed Paprika Whiz in the 2001 Limited Open and Intermediate Open Top Ten standings. At the end of 2001, Tommy decided to move home to Pennsylvania and work along with Jerry Coleman at Milnes Quarter Horses.

Tommy continues to show in the Intermediate Open and Open divisions. He currently has lifetime earnings of $42,099.53 and 388 youth points.
